Lynn Marie Kirby is occupied with questions of place, the residue of history, and liminal states. She is engaged with seeing through different systems, the visible and hidden underpinnings. Her practice depends on improvisation and collaboration, accidents that make her jump, and forms of contemplation. Through the use of different mediums Lynn explores how technologies are used as extensions of perception to capture the flow of time.

Presently Lynn has been keeping a sound journal. She listens for an hour a day, morning and evening, currently her favorite hour is 6am. This recent tuning to the sounds of sites has taken Lynn for projects beyond her home base of San Francisco to Shanghai, Beijing and São Paulo.

Alexis Petty talks with people about projects in places, introduces past spaces into present ones, makes books, likes maps, and loves the outer sunset. She is co-director of the Carville Annex, a storefront in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco that hosts a lecture series and studio workspaces. It's a home for work concerned with the practice of being oneself through sharing ways of seeing.
